Hello everybody,
First, let me thank those who responded to my query regarding the Honda cb400f. I got it! Now I just have to get it running. I recently found an excellent mechanic who works out of his home...he's fantastic, and he is confident the bike can be brought back to life without too much cost. He's very neat, precise, honest, and extremely competent. Rare qualities today. He let's me watch everything he does, unlike the dealer mechanics who act like they're involved in some top secret government operation when they're working on bikes, out of sight of the customer's view.
Anyway, back to the topic. My rear tire is wearing a lot, plus it is cracking on the sidewalls. Even though I got the bike new last year, it was a leftover '96. I need to get replacements and my mechanic recommends Pirelli Route 66 tires. The front is not a problem, because it comes in the right 100/90-19 size. The rear, however, is 140/90, not the OEM 140/80 size. Will this fit, or is the profile too tall? I have Metzlers on my Rebel 450 and I really like them. However, in an affordable Metzler, the same size problem crops up. If a 140/90 won't fit, what other companies make a 140/80 besides the OEM IRC brand tire? Thanks for any help/advice you can give me.
Ride safe,
Bob A.
